Peninsula opened into a seated island
A closed off peninsula came out and a granite island went in, with green glass tile and pendants over a seating run for three.
This kitchen had the bones of a good room and none of the look. The cabinet boxes were solid, the runs were in sensible places, and the homeowners liked where everything sat. What they did not like was dark oak doors, a white laminate countertop and a dated island.
Refacing was the obvious answer. The old doors and drawer fronts came off, new cream raised panel doors went on, and the boxes were refaced to match. The island was rebuilt with a granite top, and the wall ovens and refrigerator were brought into the new cabinetry run.
The room reads as a completely new kitchen, and the family kept using it while the work was going on.
